Mufti Abdullah syed sajid

Director & Lead Instructor

Mufti Abdullah Syed Sajid was born in New Orleans, LA and was raised in Houston, TX.

Mufti Abdullah commenced his Islamic education journey in 2007 in Houston, TX under the tutelage of Hafiz Ansar Farooqi (Hafidhahullah) at Darul Huda. After completing the memorization of the Quran in the year 2009 at the age of nine, in 2011, he enrolled at Darul Uloom New York and began his formal studies of the Alim course for the next six years (class of 2017).

Thereafter, Mufti Abdullah enrolled at the prestigious Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah in Durban, South Africa to further pursue his desire for Islamic education. There, he studied the science of issuing legal verdicts (Iftaa) for 3 years under the auspices of Muhtaram Mufti Ebrahim Desai (Rahimahullah) and Muhtaram Mufti Husain Kadodia (Hafidhahullah).

Mufti Abdullah is now serving his community as an Imam and teacher, dedicated to imparting the wisdom and insights gained throughout his educational journey.

Maulana Abdur Rahman Syed Sajid

Vice Principal & Instructor

Moulana Abdurrahman Syed Sajid was born in New Orleans, LA, and raised in Houston, TX. He began his Islamic education in 2009 under Hafiz Ansar Farooqi at Darul Huda, completing the Quran memorization by 2010 at age ten. Over the next three years, he solidified his Quranic foundation by completing 180 full recitations to a teacher.

In 2018, he pursued formal Alim studies at Darul Uloom New York, graduating in 2024. He received his Alimiyyat degree’s Ijazah from Jamia Binoriah, Pakistan, and an esteemed Ijazah in Qirat from Qari Muajul I. Chowdhury.

Moulana Abdurrahman now serves as a Co-Imam and teacher, committed to imparting his Islamic knowledge to the community.

Mufti Mirza Mahmood Baig

Senior Instructor – Adult Education

Mufti Mirza Mahmood Baig, originally from Jeddah, KSA, memorized the Holy Qur’an at the age of 12, earning his certification from the Saudi Board. He completed his ‘Aalimiyyah studies (BA in Sacred Islamic Theology and Shari’ah law) at Darul Uloom Al-Madania, USA, and Darul Uloom Zakariyya, South Africa. During his studies, he received multiple Ijazaat (authorizations) in Hadith and other Islamic subjects.

With a deep commitment to Islamic scholarship, Mufti Mahmood specialized in issuing Fatwas (legal verdicts) at Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah, South Africa, under esteemed scholars. He also pursued Qadha (judicial) training and holds a Diploma in Islamic Finance and Economics. Additionally, he trained as a Chaplain and Counsellor and received authorization in various modes of Qur’anic recitation (Qiraa’at), including the Ten Qira’aat (‘Asharah Kubraa).

Mufti Mahmood’s academic achievements extend to several Islamic Finance qualifications from prestigious institutions. After graduating in 2019, he began teaching at various Islamic Institutes in the USA, sharing his knowledge and passion for the Qur’an. He is also an active contributor to the AskMufti platforms, where he provides guidance and answers queries from a global online community.

Hafidh Toqy Islam

Instructor – Part-Time Hifdh Program

Hafidh Toqy Islam was born and raised in Houston, TX. He began his Islamic education in 2006, initially studying under Shaykh Rafiqul Islam and later under Shaykh Ansar Farooqi (Hafidhahumallah). After completing his Hifdh in 2010, he continued his studies under local Ulama while also dedicating time to teaching the Qur’an. In 2023, Toqy received his Qur’an Ijazah from Shaykh Mamdouh Mahmoud in the recitation of Imam Hafs from Imam Asim, following the method of Imam ash-Shatibiyyah.

Toqy has served as a Qur’an instructor at Masjid Bilal, BHA Houston, Masjid Ibrahim, Darul Arqam North, and currently continues his work as a Qur’an teacher at Darul Huda, all while furthering his own Islamic education.
