Program Overview
The Foundations of Faith Program is a one-year intensive designed to equip adult learners with a strong foundation in the core subjects of Islam. It is rooted in traditional Islamic scholarship while addressing the challenges and realities of modern life.
You’ll study classical texts and foundational knowledge, guided by experienced instructors in a supportive and focused environment. Whether you’re seeking clarity in your beliefs, a better understanding of daily worship, or the spiritual tools to raise a family in today’s world, this program offers a structured path to lifelong learning and a deeper connection with your faith.
This is more than just a class. it’s a journey to living Islam with knowledge, sincerity, and purpose.
This program is designed for serious and committed learners. To gain the most benefit, students are expected to attend classes consistently, dedicate time outside of class for study and review, and engage thoughtfully with the material.

Text: Textbook of Qur’anic Arabic – Nidham Institute by Mufti Emran Salam
Course Length: 3 Semesters
Designed for beginners, this book covers fundamental grammar, root words, and key vocabulary frequently found in the Qur’an, helping students take their first step toward connecting with the Qur’an.
Text: Last 10 Surahs of Juz ʿAmma
Course Length: 1 Semester
Building on the grammar and vocabulary covered in Qur’anic Arabic, students will study the last 10 surahs of the Qur’an with a focus on understanding how the Arabic they’ve learned appears in real context. This will help them recognize familiar words, grasp sentence structures, and begin to reflect on meaning directly from the Arabic text.

Course Length: 2 Semesters
An easy-to-follow guide introducing the basics of Tajweed, articulation points (Makharij), and foundational rules. Focus is placed on clarity in recitation and correcting common pronunciation errors. Both the theoretical and practical application of Tajweed will be taught to build confidence and fluency in reading the Qur’an.

Course Length: 2 Semesters
Understanding ʿAqeedah (Islamic creed) is the foundation of one’s Deen. It shapes our worldview, strengthens our faith, and safeguards us from doubts and misguidance. In this subject, students will study the foundational tenets of faith. Topics include the oneness and attributes of Allah, belief in His prophets and angels, the unseen (Ghayb), divine decree (Qadr), and life after death. The text provides clear, structured explanations that help students build certainty in their faith while learning how to respond to common misunderstandings.
Fiqh of ‘Ibadat (Worship)
Course Length: 2 Semesters
Text: Darul Huda’s Fiqh Curriculum – Beginner’s Manual
This course covers the essential rulings of daily worship, including purification (Taharah), prayer (Salah), fasting (Sawm), Charity (Zakah), and Pilgrimage (Hajj). While many of us may have studied these topics before, common mistakes in daily worship are often overlooked. This class helps correct those errors and aims to perfect our acts of worship, so we can worship Allah with greater confidence and sincerity.
Fiqh of Food Consumption
Course Length: 1 Semester
Text: Delicate Issues in Halal Food by Mufti Waqas Muhi
This course covers key principles related to what is permissible and impermissible in food and drink. Students will explore common contemporary concerns, such as food processing, ingredients, certification, cross-contamination, and dining out, through the lens of Islamic jurisprudence. The goal is to help students navigate everyday choices with clarity and confidence.
Text: Darul Huda’s 40 Hadith of Imam Nawawi (Annotated Edition)
Course Length: 3 Semesters
In this class, students will memorize and study selected sayings of the Prophet ﷺ from Imam Nawawi’s famous 40 Hadith collection. Each Hadith will be explained in simple terms, focusing on its meaning, practical lessons, and how it applies to our daily lives. Students will also begin applying what they’ve learned in their Arabic grammar classes, such as basic word forms and sentence structure, to better understand the words of the Prophet ﷺ.

Course Length: 1 Semester
In this course, students will explore the beauty, character, and lifestyle of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through Imam al-Tirmidhi’s famous compilation, Shama’il al-Muhammadiyah. This text offers a unique look into the physical appearance, clothing, mannerisms, and habits of the Prophet ﷺ, allowing students to build a deep personal connection with him.
Along with reading and discussion, the course will focus on how we can emulate the Prophet’s noble qualities in our own lives. The goal is not just to know about the Prophet ﷺ, but to love him more and strive to reflect his Sunnah in our character.
Text: Reformation of Character – by Hadhrat Mawlana Hakim Akhtar (Rahimahullah)
Course Length: 2 Semesters
This subject focuses on purifying the heart and building noble character through the guidance of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Students will study key spiritual diseases, such as pride, jealousy, and love of fame, and learn how to replace them with sincerity, humility, and trust in Allah. Drawing from the timeless wisdom of scholars, this course aims to instill a deeper sense of self-awareness, spiritual discipline, and a desire to live as upright believers in every part of life.

Yes. Attendance is required for all scheduled classes. Consistent participation is key to both academic progress and spiritual growth. Excessive absences, especially without a valid excuse, may affect a student’s enrollment status.
No, the Foundations of Faith program is offered exclusively in person and will not be available online.
Recordings are available for students who are committed to the class and miss a session due to valid reasons. However, if instructors observe that a student is frequently absent without justification or showing a lack of seriousness, access to class recordings may be restricted.
