Nurturing Hearts and Minds

About Darul Huda

A house of Quran and sacred knowledge in the heart of Houston, where students are taught with care and raised with adab.

A House Built on the Quran

Students in a Quran lesson at Darul Huda

Darul Huda began as a Quran class in north Houston: a teacher, a room, and a generation of children memorizing the Book of Allah. Among those children were two brothers who completed their hifdh here, spent years away in the formal study of the Islamic sciences, and returned to teach in the very rooms where they were once students.

That return tells you what Darul Huda is. Knowledge in this house was not imported. It was planted here, it grew here, and it came home here. What began as a single class has grown into a full institute of Quran and sacred knowledge, serving children, teenagers, and adults across Houston.

Today Darul Huda carries students from their first letters to the completion of hifdh, grounds families in the essentials of their faith, and in August 2026 opens its Aalimiyyah Program: a full time path in Arabic and the Islamic sciences, built so that a student can travel from their first Surah to the seat of scholarship without leaving their city.

“The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it.”

Sahih al Bukhari

Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Darul Huda exists to be a place of light, knowledge, and guidance: an institute rooted in the tradition of Islamic scholarship and awake to the world its students live in. Our work is to plant a deep love of the Quran in every heart that enters our doors, and to build an environment where students grow in knowledge, draw closer to Allah, and carry their faith into every part of their lives.

We are committed to the whole student, Talim and Tarbiyah together: sound teaching, and the patient formation of character.

Our Vision

A community gathered around sacred knowledge. Graduates who hold firmly to tradition and meet the challenges of their time with honesty, wisdom, and kindness. Leaders raised in Houston and serving far beyond it, bound by a deep love for Allah, His Messenger ﷺ, and His words.

We intend for Darul Huda to be what its name promises: a house of guidance, for this generation and the ones that follow it, InshaAllah.

Our Values

Quran First

Everything at Darul Huda begins with the Book of Allah: recited, memorized, understood, and lived.

Sacred Knowledge

The sciences of the tradition, taught from their classical texts by scholars who carry them.

Tarbiyah

Teaching that reaches the heart. Worship, character, and adab are part of the curriculum, not an afterthought.

Community

An institute that belongs to its families, and students who return what they were given in service of the Ummah.

From the Director

A Message from Mufti Abdullah

As-salamu alaykum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuh

I memorized the Quran at Darul Huda. I sat where our students now sit, in front of my teacher, and everything Allah gave me afterward, years of Alim studies at Darul Uloom New York and the study of Iftaa under Mufti Ebrahim Desai in South Africa, began in these rooms.

So when I speak about this institute, I am speaking about a debt. Darul Huda gave me the Quran, and the rest of my life is an attempt to be worthy of that gift. My brother and I came home to carry this trust forward: to build a place in Houston where a child can go from their first Surah to the seat of scholarship without leaving their family, their community, or their city.

We hold our students to a high standard, and we hold ourselves to a higher one. Come visit us. Sit in a class, meet the teachers, and ask us your hardest questions. We would be honored to welcome your family.
